What's really out there?

I've been wondering lately what causes someone to reject totally committing to Christ? I know that I havn't always been saved and living a life devoted to God. However, I was wondering what's the thing that keeps people from at least trying the church life. I know that there's the club life, drugs, sex, friends, alcohol, pornography, etc that could all be a strong hold on someone trying to live for God. But I just wonder if the influences or distractions towards people young and old is so strong that they are not able to see that Christ is soon to return. It seems that after a certain length of time those things would even grow boring, nonstimulating, and unappealling. I just don't get it. Sometimes you hear folks say that they aren't ready to come to church until they are ready to let things go. I would beg that one to come anyway rather they are weak or strong. It's a trick of the enemy to have someone think that they have to have things all ready to go before they accept Christ. The times are so wicked now that I have an uneasing fear for those who don't know Christ. I've decided to ask questions more and more, what's the distraction? Why does the world seem to sell it's products better than the church? What's really out there?

  1. Good Morning Ladies!!! It has been a while since anyone has posted, so I'll break the ice:

The first line of the blog is very thought provoking statement. I don't think that people believe that they are totally rejecting Christ. You are asking what's really out there, but I would ask what's not out there. The ability to do any and everything that you want to do is out there, and sometimes that can seem more appealing than a life surrendered to Christ. As I have heard someone say, "We are human people", and a fleshly satisfying life can give the IMPRESSION of a better, more entertaining, more satisfying life. In reality, is it better? DEFINITELY NOT! However, I don't think people see that, or maybe we(believers) don't show that. People do not think about Christ's return. No one ever thinks in the long term. People are not concentrating on eternity. They view it as far off, even though it is not. No one is thinking that the decisions they make right now shape the rest of their natural lives, so thinking about their eternal lives is even further off. I just wanted to express a little bit of my thought train. That is all for the moment...

Btw (By the way), very interesting subject, I thoroughly enjoyed the trains of thought it took me on...

  2. Thank you Salena for stimulating our latest blog.
The question is (paraphrasing here) why aren't people attracted to Christ? And my response to this would be that Christ doesn't entertain our flesh. The three falls of man would be the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. As Sis Salena has stated, in the world anything and everything goes and for someone to commit to Christ would cause an individual to develop discipline. Who wants to be discplined when there are "no obvious repercussions" for a person's behavior.
The secular spectrum spends unlimited amounts of time and energy and money towards luring their audience of choice and I think this is where the Body of Christ is falling short in some areas. If the church took more interest and time to devote in creating innovative yet spiritually stimulating venues and outlets to counteract what the world has to offer, than I believe that those unsaved would see the real. meaning and purpose behind them existing.
One other point and I'll be finished. The world doesn't have a problem with candidly sharing where they've been, what they've experienced and how they've reached the point to where they may be at the moment. The word says, And they were overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the words of their testimony. They signifies anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. This also can include an opportunity for someone else to be reached if our personal testimonies were told more often. This is the Good News or "Media" that the world needs to experience.
